In 1954 Autobus Helie started its business of transporting people. In the beginning, Mister Bruno Helie, upon request from the school board, started to drive students of St-Grégoire to the village school. He first used a taxi cab; he then switched to a bus because of the increase of students. He followed up by buying his first bus from Prevost Car.
As time went by, Bruno Helie continued to increase his fleet to six vehicles; in 1976 he bought the transportation company Lucien Deshaies of Ste-Gertrude.
In 1979, Pierre, Jocelyn and Normand, bought the family business and added new paths to their business. In addition to student transportation, Autobus Helie oriented itself towards intercity transportation (between Plessisville and Trois-Rivières) and towards chartered transportation.
The company's growth continued until August, 1999 with the acquisition of Autobus Bourassa Ltd, a company located in St-Valere (near Victoriaville) which owned 22 vehicles.
In July, 2001, the family company again increased by the acquisition of Autobus Lucien Roy Ltd and L. Roy & Sons In., which had their head offices in Lyster and owned 14 vehicles.
In 2007, Groupe Hélie bought the ownership of 10 contracts regarding the transportation of students which were operated by Autobus B.S.O. of Notre-Dame-de Lourdes (region of Les Bois-Francs).
Finally, since the first of January, 2008, we have handled the transportation for the handicapped for the Corporation of transportation La Cadence in the Bois-Franc region.
Today, Groupe Hélie and its subsidiaries Autocar Helie Inc. Autobus Bourrassa Ltd, Autobus Lucien Roy Ltd and Autobus L.Roy & Sons Inc. own a fleet of more than 100 vehicles and are doing business in the Centre du Québec, the Mauricie, the Bois-Francs as well as in the Asbestos region.
